The Centres give students the opportunity to live and learn together in a new and interesting environment. Our aim is:
“to provide high quality personal, social and environmental education through outdoor and residential experiences”.
Low Bank Ground is in the heart of the Lake District on the shores of Coniston water with magnificent views across the lake to the Coniston Fells. It has extensive grounds, a 100 metre lakeshore, boathouse, jetty and wide range of watersports facilities. Behind the Centre is Grizedale forest with facilities for walking, orienteering, mountain biking and sculpture trails. There are two minibuses for group use and a large diesel boat for lake journeys.
Yew Tree Lodge at Low Bank Ground is a superb base for all kinds of day visits- outdoor activities, field studies, ICT, meetings and seminars. This facility is available for all groups from the local community to further afield.
Hinning House is a purpose-built Centre in a superb location, in the beautiful Duddon Valley, close to Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. Close by are sites for rock scrambling, climbing, hill walking, orienteering, mountain biking and farm visits. There are also spectacular valley walks along the River Duddon.
The Centres are also available to independent groups on a catered or self-catering basis.
