Day Visits - Yew Tree Lodge
“I feel that we achieved more in one day in terms of teamwork and co-operation, than could be achieved in years in the classroom”.
“It is a great facility for groups wanting a day’s activity on the water. The boathouse has all the equipment for sailing, kayaking and canoeing and it’s good to be able to get a hot shower at the end of the day”.
Yew Tree Lodge is the new Day Visit Centre at Low Bank Ground, suitable for groups of up to 20. There is a large classroom/seminar room with computer suite suitable for meetings, workshops and courses requiring ICT facilities, including video-conferencing. As well as this it provides a spacious base for outdoor activity groups. Popular day and half-day activities include: kayaking, canoeing, sailing, orienteering, rock scrambling, team challenges, mountain walks and environmental activities. There are two sets of changing rooms, showers and toilets and facilities for wheel-chair users.
Some of the groups who have used Yew Tree Lodge include:
- A local secondary school to develop kayaking skills.
- A Wigan school for outdoor team building activities.
- An environmental group using it for a day seminar.
- Two training days for youth leaders in Cumbria.
- A staff team for an in-service day.
It is possible to book buffet or packed lunches at the Centre as part of the day. Groups can also use Yew Tree Lodge for meetings followed by a local guided walk or activity on the lake. We are happy to discuss your individual course requirements and provide a day visit to meet the needs of your group. Please telephone the Centre to discuss.
