Fieldwork & School-Led Courses
“It’s great to see students achieve so much in such a short time”.
The Centres are ideal bases for residential fieldwork in Geography, Geology and Biology. There are nearby sites for river and glacial studies, freshwater, woodland and mountain ecology and many opportunities to investigate the human impact on the landscape and land use through farming, forestry, mining, tourism and conservation.
Teachers are welcome to run their own fieldwork courses or work jointly with Centre staff.
Other groups have used the Centres for art, creative writing, business and enterprise, technology, practical conservation skills and civil engineering. Most of these groups take advantage of their stay and incorporate outdoor adventurous activities into their programmes.
