Bushcraft and Canoe Weekend, Low Bank Ground OEC, Coniston - 7th-9th May 2010

An opportunity to experience and develop the skills associated with canoe tripping in wilderness environments.

Making use of Low Bank Ground’s access to Coniston Water and the surrounding shore line, we will look at the skills and knowledge necessary to have a safe and enjoyable multi-day canoe trip, both in the UK and further afield.

While the actual content of the weekend will depend on the group itself and the weather, topics that could be covered include:

  • Canoeing skills
  • Shelter building
  • Fires and cooking
  • Water
  • Camping out
  • Planning
  • Equipment
  • Knives, axes and saws

The course will be fully catered, based in the Rough Close building at Low Bank Ground.  All food will be provided and it is hoped that we will be able to cook (and camp) outside on Saturday night.

Cost: Adults in the authority £150 outside authority £180
Children 16 and under £100

The course is suitable for all levels of experience and ability, but all children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult, minimum age of 10.
Course tutor: Dave Harvey.
